Clouds and Sheep is a casual management title where the player's objective is to ensure the survival and well-being of a flock of sheep. The animals possess limited autonomy, necessitating direct and frequent intervention from the player to meet their requirements. Interaction is almost entirely physics-based, allowing direct manipulation of nearly every on-screen element using touch controls. Sheep can be dragged to specific locations, but a more significant environmental control mechanic involves moving and merging clouds in the sky. Combining clouds triggers dynamic weather events or causes objects to appear on the pasture, directly influencing the flock's condition.
The primary gameplay loop revolves around monitoring and reacting to the sheep's state. Environmental factors pose continuous threats that must be actively mitigated. For instance, sheep that become soaked from rainfall must be dried using warm blankets, while those overheating under intense sunlight require cooling with pieces of ice. Successfully maintaining the flock's health through these tasks and completing various objectives rewards the player with stars. This currency functions as a progression system, used to purchase utility items for the sheep or to acquire additional sheep to expand the herd's size. The simulation presents a cycle of observation, reaction, and strategic resource management to grow a thriving farm.
